Abstract Session Formats and Tips (Abstracts are due April 30)

Abstract Submissions

Important Note:  You must be registered for the MMIRA conference to be eligible to present your paper if your abstract is accepted.

The MMIRA conference will comprise (2) main formats:  Individual papers that will be part of a Paper Session and Roundtable Works-In-Progress

Each Entire Session will last 90 minutes.  We anticipate 4 papers per paper session and between 3 to 4 roundtable works per roundtable session.  We hope to have a discussant for each of these session formats.  So plan your presentation time with this in mind, following are descriptions of the two types of session formats.

(1) Paper Presentation Session:  Papers presentations will focus on (a) relatively well developed empirical mixed methods research projects, (b) conceptual/theoretical papers, or (c) any other presentation that the author believes should take the form of a paper presentation.  These presentations should be no more than 15 minutes.  A discussant will be included, depending on the needs of the session.

(2) Roundtable Presentation:  Roundtables will be used to provide a forum for students, junior, and accomplished researchers to present their mixed method research proposals and project in various phases of completion to an audience of peers, colleagues, and experts.  Individual presentations will last 15 minutes.  A discussant will have 15 minutes to provide suggestions for improvements in the works presented.

(3) Panel Presentation: The MMIRA Program Committee will place all papers into panels.  However, if you have a special panel of papers you would like to put together, please send your Panel Proposal to the Program Chair no later than January 1, 2014.  This deadline is for panel proposals only.  Label your email MMIRA Panel Proposal and send to: mmiraconference2014@gmail.com.  Be sure your proposal contains a Panel Title, Panel Organizer, and all paper titles and abstracts with contact info for each abstract.  Provide a description/rationale for your overall session (no more than 500 words) and its significance.

(4) Invited Feature Speaker Plenary Sessions: TBA

Abstract Submission Deadline:  Abstracts are due no later than midnight April 30th, 2014

Note:  An author can submit more than one abstract, but a maximum of two for any first author will be accepted.  The number of presentations allowed for any one person will also be limited to a maximum of 2 presentations per person.
