Overview: The MMIRA Dissertation Award recognizes a beginning scholar whose doctoral dissertation or doctoral thesis has made an outstanding contribution to the field of mixed methods research. This award is open to both methodological doctoral submissions (e.g., a systematic review of an aspect of mixed methods research) and empirical doctoral submissions (e.g., a mixed methods investigation of a specific topic). This award is open to all fields and disciplines.
General eligibility: At the time of submitting the application, applicants must be: 1) a current MMIRA member and 2) have successfully defended/passed their doctoral examination (but not necessarily awarded or convocated). Applicants should review any other specific eligibility requirements in the official call for applications (e.g., the dates of doctoral submissions eligible to apply).
Timing: The MMIRA Dissertation Award will be awarded at each MMIRA Global Conference. These conferences are held every even-numbered year (e.g., 2026, 2028, 2030).

This award is open to both methodological publications (e.g., a systematic review of an aspect of mixed methods research) and empirical publications (e.g., a mixed methods investigation of a specific topic). This award is open to all fields and disciplines.
General eligibility: At the time of submitting the application: 1) the lead author of the publication must be a current MMIRA member and 2) the publication must have been published within 10 years of the Global Conference date (e.g., publications from 2016-2026 are eligible for the award at the 2026 Global conference). Applicants should review any other specific eligibility requirements in the official call for applications.
